The sudden explosion of social media during the infant stages of the 21st century has influenced the modern market in ways previously unimagined. What started as a simple network has become the most influential consumer tool we’ve seen thus far. By understanding that networking and marketing go hand-in-hand, the contemporary businessman and woman can easily capitalize on this phenomenon with just a little bit of insight.
As a networker and businessman myself, I quickly learned the importance of adapting to a changing world and it is the reason for my success today. Perhaps the volatility of this new social climate has gotten a bad name, but I am here to personally say that it’s the everchanging nature of our current market which makes it such an appealing venture. We have to accept this fact and make it work to the best of our ability in order to be successful.
Something important to note: the market is fickle. In this sense, I mean that it is constantly changing and evolving—I cannot stress that enough. The interests of the consumer waver from one thing to the next, to the next, to the next. We investors need to be willing to grow and change with them. The principle of supply and demand is noteworthy here, and the concept is simple: what the consumer wants is what the consumer gets. In other words, the customer is always right.

Let’s talk a little bit about some of the benefits of taking your product or service through a network marketing platform.

Gone are the days of billboard ads and paper flyers. Not only is it wasteful of ink and paper, it’s also wasteful of our time and money; and time is certainly money. With the entire world at our fingertips, people are talking more than ever. Word spreads like wildfire, and companies are at the mercy of the consumer. This is a very good thing for us as it allows us to hear directly from the consumer and respond accordingly.
As social creatures, we like to share things with each other—what we like, what we don’t like, what we want, and what we don’t want. Being able to direct the focus from marketing and advertising to the prospective consumer is vital to the success of your brand.
Use your own social nature to interact with the public and bring positive awareness to your brand. Develop a “brand voice,” a constant tone and style of speaking across all platforms. Whether we like it or not, people are going to talk about us even if we do not have a presence on social media. It pays to pay attention!
#2 Pay Distributors, Not Marketing Agencies
Another key benefit of taking your product through a network marketing platform is, again, directing the focus back to the human element. When your money isn’t tied up dealing with advertisers, you’ll be able to spend that money in more productive and useful ways. One such way is affording your distributors an additional stream of revenue, tax savings, and the freedom to build their business when and how they wish. Happy distributors means a happy business, and a happy business generates revenue!
#3 Build Communities
A pervasive theme throughout this discourse is the human being and our nature as human beings to socialize. The reason why networking works, especially when done organically, is because we are social creatures. We like to stick together and form communities based on similar interests and even disinterests. When I took my product through an MLM system, I was able to interact with my consumer in ways I’d never imagined. Building a community of supporters is absolutely essential to the health of your business. The consumer is the heartbeat of your whole operation, and it’s important to maintain that rhythm.
When we build communities, we find strength in numbers. Treat the consumer with respect and kindness and they will reward you with their time, energy, and business. If they like your product, you could possibly sponsor them which I discuss further below. These communities will do all of your marketing for you while you sit back and focus on other things.
#4 Faster Brand Awareness
Building communities goes hand-in-hand with faster brand awareness, and here’s why. We’ve already discussed the social nature of people and how their willingness to stick together will work in your favor, but now we will discuss one of the byproducts of these two concepts working in harmony—faster brand awareness.
We’ve created a brand of something unique and fresh and exciting, and people are talking about it. Word gets out. When you create a consistent aesthetic, it becomes instantly recognizable, almost on a subconscious level. People—whether they like your product or not—will begin to recognize it.
It’s safe to assume that most of the population is, or has been, on most popular social media platforms, and it’s also safe to assume that we have all seen products or services which we may not personally be interested in but whose marketing tactics have stuck with us. Think of it like a song that gets stuck in one’s head. While we may not care for it, we know it exists and we know that there are those who may be interested in it. How many times have you recommended a product or service to someone who could benefit from it? That is how your product grows and becomes iconic.
#5 Sponsoring Distributors
With added visibility comes added opportunities for yourself and your audience. When it comes to a network marketing business, sponsoring (AKA recruiting distributors) is vital to your company’s success. The purpose of an MLM platform is to utilize an audience to sell your product for you. By recruiting distributors, you cut out the middle-man and allow your clients to directly sell your product to their group of friends, family, network, etc.
With your community of supporters built, there are bound to be individuals who believe in and support your product to the point where they would be willing to become distributors. This is obviously ideal. Rather than pitching your idea to several companies, waiting for responses, and experiencing rejection after rejection, or finally getting it accepted and then put on a shelf only to sit there after spending thousands, even millions, of dollars in marketing, put your product through an MLM network – it will sell itself.
#6 Low Start-up Costs for Distributors
As previously stated in my post titled “10 Incredible Benefits of Joining a Network Marketing Company,” there is very low risk for distributors when it comes to an MLM-style business simply because many of the fees incurred when creating a regular business do not apply. As I mentioned above, you are literally helping thousands of people in society self-develop, earn additional income, give people tax savings, and help people reach dreams they would have never been able to working a traditional business. You become a super hero!
#7 Ability to Earn Residual Income
When it comes to making money, I certainly prefer money that makes itself. You should, too! When you sell a product through an MLM platform, you’re not only earning money from the sale of your product, but also a percentage of the sales made by your distributors. It’s a win-win-win!
I personally believe in the concept of set-it-and-forget-it (within reason, of course). A running theme in multi-level marketing is the idea of products selling themselves, without need for further intervention. As marketers, this is something we need to embrace and take full advantage of.
