There are many reality shows, and some are actually pretty entertaining, but I have to say one of my favorites is America’s Got Talent. The season just ended and I am so glad Landau Eugene Murphy won! For those of you who do not watch the show, he has had a very rough journey getting to where he is today, which makes his win truly inspirational.
Murphy was homeless, working at a car wash just to get by and provide for his family. He had dreams of pursuing his amazing talent as a singer and this show seemed like the best opportunity. Although he never doubted his abilities, he felt as though the odds were against him due to his past, but boy was he wrong! This Frank Sinatra- singer sound alike won the competition and walked away with $1 million and a headlining contract in Las Vegas!
People magazine interviewed him shortly after winning completely teary eyed as he was beside his wife. “ Is this really happening? I’m standing on a red carpet taking pictures. It feels wonderful.” That moment for him must have been unlike anything he has ever experienced in his life. This brings a sense of hope and determination to all of us, proving that perseverance and belief in your dreams can really make them come true! This is why America is called “ the land of opportunity.” Regardless of your background, race, religion or your upbringing you can become anyone you dream of if only you set your mind to it, Landau is a prime example. Kudos to him! I am excited to see his show a Caesars Palace next year!

One of my favorite shows is the very popular and recently controversial, Two and a Half Men. Charlie Sheen really made the show, but now with him gone, the show must go on. Hearing about Ashton Kutcher being welcomed into the show, actually intrigues me, among many others who will be tuned in at the first episode’s show time.
Why Ashton Kutcher though, what makes him such a good substitute for the irreplaceable Charlie Sheen? Two words: Twitter following. Of course Ashton is a really funny actor with many great movies and shows behind him, but isn’t that also the reason why he has 6.7 million twitter followers? CBS and Warner Bros know this will bring in not only all of his followers, but all of the pre-existing fans of the show, like me, who are interested in seeing how this will all pan out. The audience that will be tuned in that night will be the biggest they’ve ever seen.
After the first show airs, it will then be an experiment from here on out as to what in the social media world draws in more viewers, and if its working to their advantage. Having the ability to use this tool is genius on CBS and Warner Bros part. They’ve chosen the right actor for many reasons, now lets see if he turns out to be the right fit for the part!

I can guarantee you that the title of this blog has nothing to do with Spiders….I dislike spiders. However it does connect with what I mentioned in one of my blogs a couple of weeks ago related how the internet and the www are replacing traditional TV as a source of news.

This past weekend my wife and I went to the movie “Inglourious Bastards”. The premise follows a story line about an Allied officer and his team of Jewish-American soldiers who join forces with a German actress and undercover agent to take down the leaders of the Third Reich.
