75% Longer and 25% Faster

How many times have you really pushed yourself, I mean really pushed yourself? Did you accomplish your goal? My bet is yes, but not only did you accomplish your goal, you exceeded it far beyond your expectations…

Yesterday I went for a run, and as well today. However, I ran for much longer and faster today than I did yesterday. Why? Nothing had really changed, except for today I had worn my Garmin watch, which gauges and tracks my exercise progress.

While I was running I noticed how far I had gone, and at what speed. This motivated me to pick up the pace and push myself harder even though I was ready to quit a few times due to lack of sleep the night before. I had only an idea of how far I’d gone, but had no way of tracking or checking my results. With the ability to see my progress, I increased my endurance and pushed myself significantly harder to run longer.

It then dawned on me that measuring progress in any activity be it your business, school or even relationships will help you to not only succeed, but it will motivate, inspire and push you to really accomplish your goals!

So, the next time you start a project make sure you have a measuring stick in place to gauge your progress for success. Trust me, it’ll be much easier to see your growth.
