Find Out Which Dog Breeds Attract Men To Women!

Monday, June 18th, 2012

Did you know the type of dog you have could deter or attract certain people? A recent study done by Kloof (a mobile app for dog lovers) concluded the top breed that attracts men to women is the Golden Retriever! The runner up breeds included Labrador Retrievers, Chihuahuas, Poodles, and Beagles.

What’s even more interesting is the stereotype associated with the owner of a specific breed. For women, if you own a Chihuahua, men often assume the woman is “dumb” or “easy. However, a woman may tend to find that men who own Pit Bull’s are “sketchy” or “sleazy”, whereas a man who owns as German Shepherd or Siberian Husky are seen as being “masculine.”

It Truly Is A Small World After All…

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

Have you ever been on Facebook looking through some of your friends’ pages and noticed you share many common friends? Some friends of whom you would have never guessed they could’ve possibly known? Well the University of Milan recently conducted a study and came to the conclusion that the average number of acquaintances separating any two people in the entire world is 4.74 people!

The researchers developed a set of algorithms to calculate the average distance between any two people by computing a large number of sample paths between Facebook users. The results found the average number of links from one selected person to another was no more than 4.74.

In just the United States, the number fell to 4.37! Turns out we really do have connections to the celebrity world, in one way or another at least! I find this study to be very eye opening! If you think about it though, in reality (take Facebook out of the equation) we are all connected, although that number is much higher than 4.74, in a way, each person knows at least one person you know!

Are you determined to follow your dreams?

There are many reality shows, and some are actually pretty entertaining, but I have to say one of my favorites is America’s Got Talent. The season just ended and I am so glad Landau Eugene Murphy won! For those of you who do not watch the show, he has had a very rough journey getting to where he is today, which makes his win truly inspirational.

Murphy was homeless, working at a car wash just to get by and provide for his family. He had dreams of pursuing his amazing talent as a singer and this show seemed like the best opportunity. Although he never doubted his abilities, he felt as though the odds were against him due to his past, but boy was he wrong! This Frank Sinatra- singer sound alike won the competition and walked away with $1 million and a headlining contract in Las Vegas!

People magazine interviewed him shortly after winning completely teary eyed as he was beside his wife. “ Is this really happening? I’m standing on a red carpet taking pictures. It feels wonderful.” That moment for him must have been unlike anything he has ever experienced in his life. This brings a sense of hope and determination to all of us, proving that perseverance and belief in your dreams can really make them come true! This is why America is called “ the land of opportunity.” Regardless of your background, race, religion or your upbringing you can become anyone you dream of if only you set your mind to it, Landau is a prime example. Kudos to him! I am excited to see his show a Caesars Palace next year!

When push comes to shove, are you a hero?

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Watching the news these days usually consists of negative stories about all the problems our world is facing. One report on Monday was about a motorcycle crash that occurred from a BMW pulling out of a parking lot with out looking. The driver pulled right in front of the motorcyclist who’s instinct was to try and avoid the car by laying the motorcycle down.

Immediately after, the motorcycle and front end of the car was engulfed in flames. The motorcyclist was trapped underneath the car, unconscious and nearing what seemed to be a tragic fate. We hear about these terrible crash stories all the time on the news and normally they all end the same. However, this story didn’t end as we expected it. There was a crowd around this horrific scene and instead watching, despite the car and motorcycle bursting in flames ready to explode any second, they all worked together to lift the car and pull out the man from underneath.

The people involved in this heroic act were ordinary bystanders, just passing by when the crash happened. It was so inspiring to see these people come together and help save this mans life! Sometimes it’s easy to assume the majority of people don’t really care about others, and often times it seems that way. This story truly displays that good people do still exist in this world. Everyone who helped that day risked their lives to save another. It is amazing what a little teamwork can do, and in this situation it saved a life! My hats off to the hero’s of that day, as well as to those of you who would have done the same in that situation.
